How do China and the US stack up when it comes to education? Can science fiction do anything to energize the sector? How do leading international companies view the Chinese market? What sparks will fly when the two giants in the world of Chinese education meet? These questions will be explored at Global Education Summit (GES) 2017, to be held in Beijing on November 27-29. Guided by the theme “Global Technology Advancing Education,” this invite-only summit will bring together 300 edtech leaders from around the world for in-depth discussions on cutting-edge technologies and innovations.

此次GES未來(lái)教育大(dà)會是(shì)由中國(guó)發展研究基金會攜手北京師範大(dà)學、騰訊、GSV（全球矽谷投資公司）、好未來(lái)聯合主辦，經國(guó)務院發展研究中心、中華人(rén)民共和(hé / huò)國(guó)教育部直接指導。同時(shí)，大(dà)會與清華大(dà)學、ASU（亞利桑那州立大(dà)學）建立學術合作，攜手寶寶樹、VIPKID、科大(dà)訊飛和(hé / huò)哒哒教育，借助先進的(de)騰訊雲直播技術，緻力于(yú)打造一(yī / yì ／yí)場立足中國(guó)、影響世界的(de)全球未來(lái)教育盛會。

值得關注的(de)是(shì)，本次大(dà)會的(de)籌備機構ASU與GSV，同時(shí)也(yě)是(shì)美國(guó)“ASU-GSV”全球教育科技峰會的(de)主辦方。據了(le／liǎo)解，“ASU-GSV”峰會的(de)嘉賓陣容曆來(lái)重磅，美國(guó)前國(guó)務卿賴斯、微軟創始人(rén)比爾·蓋茨、可汗學院創始人(rén)薩爾曼·可汗等橫跨政商科教各領域均曾出(chū)席。因此，GES大(dà)會嘉賓陣容也(yě)絕對值得期待。據主辦方介紹，除了(le／liǎo)國(guó)務院發展研究中心主任李偉、中國(guó)發展研究基金會副理事長兼秘書長盧邁、北京師範大(dà)學校長董奇、哈佛大(dà)學副教務長包弼德、斯坦福大(dà)學教授羅斯高等數百位來(lái)自國(guó)際政商界、教育科技界的(de)領英人(rén)物将集體亮相外，國(guó)内外知名科幻作家劉慈欣、果殼網創始人(rén)姬十三、騰訊公司主要(yào / yāo)創辦人(rén)及一(yī / yì ／yí)丹獎創辦人(rén)陳一(yī / yì ／yí)丹等公衆耳熟能詳的(de)人(rén)物也(yě)将到(dào)場，以(yǐ)新鮮、有趣的(de)視角，給大(dà)家分享技術變革、互聯網教育所創構的(de)奇妙世界。

GES 2017 is hosted by the China Development Research Foundation, Beijing Normal University, Tencent, GSV Capital, and TAL Education Group, and is under the direct guidance of the Development Research Center of the State Council and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. Academic partners Tsinghua University and Arizona State University will work with Baby Tree, VIPKID, iFLYTEK and DadaABC using Tencent’s live-streaming cloud platform to bring GES from China to the world.

It is worth noting that two of the organizations behind GES—Arizona State University and GSV—are also the eponymous hosts of the annual ASU + GSV Summit held in the United States. Their historical roster of big-name speakers from diverse sectors—including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Khan Academy founder Salman Khan— promises an equally impressive line-up for GES 2017, featuring our special guest. The attendee list for this year’s Summit is comprised of hundreds of leading figures from the worlds of politics, business and education, including Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council Li Wei, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the China Development Research Foundation Lu Mai, President of Beijing Normal University Dong Qi, Vice Provost at Harvard University Peter K. Bol, Stanford University professor Scott Rozelle, renowned science fiction writer Liu Cixin, Guokr founder Ji Shisan, and Chen Yidan, one of the core founders of Tencent and the creator of the Yidan Prize in education research and development. They will share their interesting insight on the ways technology and online education are transforming the world.

In recent years, fast paced economic development has driven a widespread application of technology in the education sector. New technology and innovations in teaching and research have become the driving force behind future education. Both in China and abroad, edtech giants are adapting to this wave and are actively seeking out cross-sector integration and innovation in education technology.

Chinese companies like TAL have been able to display the enormous potential of the Chinese education market, as well as the rapid advancement of educational technology at events like ASU + GSV. The finale of the summit will feature the dual front-runners of the education industry, New Oriental founder Yu Minhong, and TAL Education founder Zhang Bangxin. This exchange will bring in-depth insight into China’s education sector from two industry leaders.
